Another interesting movie

There is another interesting movie out: The Ultimate Gift. The star is a trust-fund kid with all that entails, in particular a sense of entitlement. His grandfather dies and sends him on a series of twelve tasks that challenge his philosophy and help mature him. It's not an explicitly Christian film but it has good moral values.

The Ultimate Gift is one of the fruits of Barbara Nicolosi's Act One organization. The screenwriter, Cheryl McKay, is an Act One alumna.

Act One, for those who don't know too much about it, is a terrific non-profit set up to teach Christian writers, producers, etc. how to succeed in Hollywood and make art at the same time. Or, as it says on its web site:

Act One trains and mentors Christians of all denominations to work in mainstream film & television. Stressing artistry, excellence, professionalism, and spirituality, Act One’s goal is not for its alumni to produce “religious entertainment, but rather film and TV projects that combine mastery of craft with great depth and meaning. As a non-profit organization, we are wholly devoted to the professional and spiritual development of our students. Act One offers two main programs -- the Writing Program, for aspiring film and television writers, and the Executive Program, for aspiring entertainment executives -- as well as Screenwriting Weekends and many other programs and services.

If you know any Christians trying to break in to Hollywood, send them to Act One if for no other reason than to get hooked into networking systems for Christian artists in Hollywood.
