After the horrible cases the Pope apologized for in Australia this week -- e.g., the Christian Brothers schools -- I don't think we should get too self-righteous when people go over the top about molestation. Instead of calling to fire Bill Maher, we ought to be saying that he's right to protest against these crimes and cover-ups.
Bill Maher is one of the most intelligent people in all of television. I disagree with his position probably 60% of the time, but he's well spoken and eduated on the issues and usually speaks the truth, including about this issue. As RC states, stop running away from the sins of the past and go forward.
I find it TROUBLING that the American Life League is doing this petition. I left the pro-life movement because it became a "Catholic" movement rather than a pro-life movement. ALL should stick to pro-life issues and leave this one alone.
