SVDP loses suit of non-Catholic fired from leadership position

A non-Catholic volunteer who rose up through the ranks of the St. Vincent de Paul society in Queensland, Australia was told she had to be Catholic to assume the presidency of the organization. She sued, and won in court. I don't expect to become a General (or even an officer) in the Salvation Army, and I don't think she should expect to become president of St. Vincent de Paul. The defense of St. Vincent de Paul was that their chief aim is to promote the Catholic faith. The court, apparently, did not believe them. This could have been due to lack of evidence that they had ever done such a thing, which unfortunately would not surprise me. Still, as a private organization, I think they should have the right to order themselves as they see fit.
